Limestone Fire Protection District Selects New Fire Chief March 1 , 2008 Completing a four month process, the Board of Trustees voted 4-0, on February 24, 2008 to appoint Douglas A. Brignall as the Fire Chief of Limestone Fire Protection District effective March 1, 2008.
The Board of Trustee selected Chief Brignall from among twenty-nine applicants from as far away as New York and California. Chief Brignall comes to Limestone from Bartonville, IL and is a Battalion Chief for Peoria Fire.
Before his selection, Chief Brignall had an opportunity to meet with the officers and firefighters at all five of Limestone’s Fire Stations. The Officers and firefighters had the opportunity to provide feedback to the Board after meeting the candidate. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive from the entire department.
Andrew Bland, President of the Board of Trustees, said, “Chief Brignall was selected because of his 31 years of firefighting experience, thirteen years of chief officer experience, his volunteer fire department experience with Bartonville Fire Department, his community relations experience, his grant writing experience, his team building abilities and his focus on training and safety.”
Limestone Fire Protection district covers approximately 32 square miles of mixed residential, industrial and agricultural property and responds to 1100 calls a year with a staff of twenty-five volunteer firefighters.
