APPLICATION FOR FIRE CHIEF

          Thank you for your interest in serving as the full time fire chief of the LIMESTONE TOWNSHIP FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT (LTFPD).  An application form is attached.  Along with this application please submit a resume, employment references, and your compensation requirements to:

The Board of Trustees is looking for a technologically competent experienced Chief Officer who has the desire and vision to lead a recruitment drive to increase volunteers, train those volunteers and develop them into paid duty crew.  The officer should also have the ability to find grant funding to acquire equipment, apparatus and capital improvements so we can dedicate our tax base for creating high quality firefighters.  The district does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion, age, physical impairment, or national origin.

          After your application has been submitted and an initial evaluation is made, you will be asked to meet with the Board of Trustees for the purposes of determining your suitability for this position.

          The LTFPD is a progressive fire department with 5 fire stations, 10 emergency response apparatus, and approximately 40 volunteer firefighters.  LTFPD provides first responder level service and fire protection to the residents and visitors of the fire protection district.  Our district covers approximately 35 square miles of west central Peoria County and is comprised of a unique mix of residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural property.

          In 2008 LTFPD responded to 1,278 emergency incidents and is on pace to surpass 1,300 emergency incidents in 2009.  With this unprecedented growth and demand, the Board of Trustees of the LTFPD have elected to create the position of full time Fire Chief.  This is a paid position and is responsible for directing and coordinating all activities of the LTFPD.  A detailed Fire Chief’s Job Description is attached in this packet.

          The Board of Trustees is accepting applications until the position is filled.  The Board will meet with qualified candidates starting the week of July 6, 2009 with a goal to have selected a Fire Chief by September 12, 2009.
